What is Microblading?

Eyebrow microblading and shading are a form of semi-permanent makeup. In microblading, a bladed needle deposits pigmentation beneath the skin to achieve the look of natural hairs for sparse or thin brows. Shading may also be performed to add density and definition. Our Aesthetics Director, Vicky Greco, offers these excellent eyebrow microblading in Sarasota.

What is Semi-Permanent Makeup?

Semi-permanent makeup, or micropigmentation or cosmetic tattooing, is a technique that involves depositing pigment into the skin to enhance or simulate various features. Unlike traditional tattoos, which use permanent ink and penetrate deeper into the skin, semi-permanent makeup uses specialized pigments that fade over time and are placed more superficially. In short, it’s for those who want to look their best and be ready to go at all times.

How Long Does Microblading Last?

Typically, semi-permanent makeup lasts anywhere from 1-5 years. Don’t think of it as a real tattoo, because tattoos are done with ink.

Semi-permanent makeup utilizes pigment. We recommend getting touch-ups as needed to keep your semi-permanent makeup fresh.

Treatment Details

Microblading takes approximately two hours. Your microblading in Sarasota treatment plan will be fully customized to your specific face and natural brow patterns. To keep you comfortable, a topical numbing cream will be used. The numbing cream takes about 20 minutes to work.

How is Eyebrow Microblading Done?

Eyebrow microblading involves the following steps:

  • Choosing the best color and shape for your eyebrows.
  • Providing a preview of the color before making it semi-permanent.
  • Measuring and drawing your eyebrows.
  • Using a small blade to create fine strokes for outlining and filling in your brows.
  • Depositing the pigment and removing the makeup pencil outline.

How is Eyebrow Shading Done?

Shading for eyebrows is done using an electric or manual needle. The pigment is deposited in tiny dots, combined with hairlike microblading strokes.

Using a shading tool, the brows will be filled with a soft, powder-like finish. Once finished, the skin will be wiped, leaving behind the new pigment.

Typically, two sessions are needed for optimal results. The second appointment is scheduled 6-8 weeks after the initial one, allowing time for the eyebrows to heal.

After Care Routine Following Eyebrow Microblading

Avoid getting your brows wet during healing, or sweating of any kind (this includes going to the gym), as well as showerhead pressure. You can expect your brows to feel sore 1-2 hours post-procedure.

Around day 2-3, your eyebrows will appear almost too bold and dark. By days 4-7, they may be flaky and patchy. Be sure to apply any ointment or product that we recommend.

The pigment will fade with healing. They will actually lighten by 50%-60%. This is why touch-ups are so often needed, and these can be done at four weeks.

Can microblading hide scars in the brow area?

Yes, microblading can effectively cover scars within the brow area. The technique involves drawing strokes that mimic natural brow hairs, which can camouflage scars and blend them with the rest of your eyebrows.

Is microblading suitable for all skin types?

Microblading can be performed on most skin types, however, individuals with very oily skin or extremely thin or sensitive skin may experience less optimal results, such as fading pigment or less crisp strokes. A consultation with a certified technician can help determine if microblading is right for your skin type.

What pigments are used in microblading, and are they safe?

The pigments used in microblading are usually mineral-based and are specifically formulated for facial cosmetic procedures to minimize allergic reactions and achieve natural-looking results. It's important to ensure that the pigments are of high quality and meet safety standards.

How long does the microblading process take and what should I expect during my appointment?

A typical microblading appointment can last between 2 to 3 hours. The session begins with shaping and styling the brows to suit your facial structure, followed by the application of a topical anesthetic to minimize discomfort. The microblading itself takes about 30 to 45 minutes.

Can microblading be removed or corrected if I’m not satisfied with the results?

Yes, microblading can be corrected or faded over time with saline removal or laser treatments. However, it's best to choose a highly skilled technician to minimize the need for corrections.
