Three Generations of Medicine

Dr. Joseph Greco is the third generation in his family to practice medicine. He proudly provides the quality of care and impact on his patients that he learned from watching his grandfather and father practice.

“The vision of the practice was to work alongside my father and to have that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, just as he had been working with my grandfather. I wanted to be able to create that family atmosphere here and extend it to my staff and to my patients. Everybody here is going to be treated as family.”

The Beginning: Joseph F. Greco, Sr.

Dr. Joseph Greco’s grandfather, Joseph F. Greco, Sr., was the town doctor in the tiny coal mining community in Northeastern Pennsylvania. He specialized in every aspect of medicine, from pediatrics to geriatrics and office-based surgery to OB/GYN. In addition, he was one of the first doctors in the U.S. to perform hair transplant surgery.

Dr. Joseph F. Greco III on his grandfather:

“My brothers and myself are included in the approximately 2,800 babies he delivered during my grandfather’s career. I fondly remember sneaking into his office (which was attached to his home) to watch him work, and also tagging along with him on house calls because I knew his patients always had some homemade goodies waiting for him. He had a very interesting history and was a pioneer in hair transplantation. My dad had the opportunity to work with him many years ago, and that experience stands among his greatest memories. It inspired him to pursue a career in hair restoration, which has led to his successes today. The opportunity to work with my own father now is something I cannot pass up. Not only do I want to create those same memories working with my dad, but also want to give my three children the opportunity to grow up with him as well.”

Dr. Joseph Greco, Jr. has been in practice in Sarasota since 1989. He has been practicing for over three decades as a physician assistant in orthopedic surgery, general vascular surgery, hair restoration surgery, and the last 15 years regenerative medicine.

Internationally recognized as an innovator in hair restoration, Dr. Greco is a widely published lecturer and teacher, and he is also highly regarded for his natural biologic applications. He pioneered the use of growth factor technology in all phases of hair transplant surgery and non-surgical treatments of hair loss diseases in male and female pattern hair loss.

Dr. Joseph F. Greco III has trained with his father in these advanced regenerative dermatology techniques and treatments for hair regrowth and facial rejuvenation. Proud to be continuing the success of his grandfather and father, Dr. Joseph Greco has established himself as a premier Mohs surgeon and skin cancer specialist.

More About Dr. Joseph F. Greco III

Double board-certified by The American Board of Dermatology in dermatology and micrographic dermatologic surgery, he is one of a select number of double board-certified and fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic surgeons in the country. In addition, he was one of the first dermatologic surgeons to pass The American Board of Dermatology subspecialty exam to be certified in micrographic dermatologic surgery 2021.

He is a former Director of UCLA Santa Monica Dermatology and a former Health Sciences Associate Clinical Professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, as well as the author of an extensive list of book chapters, publications, and national lectures and a faculty presenter at numerous national conferences and workshops.
